সেখানে অবস্থানরত শ্রমিকনেতা এস.এ রশিদ মুঠোফোনে একতা লাইভ অনলাইনকে জানান, গতকাল অনশনরত অবস্থায় আব্দুস ছাত্তার অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়লে তাকে খুলনা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়। শারীরিক অবস্থা বেশি খারাপ বলে তাকে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়।
তিনি বলেন, আজ সন্ধ্যায় তার মৃত্যুর খবর শ্রমিকরা জানতে পেরে বিক্ষোভে ফেটে পড়েন। এই মূহুর্তে সমাবেশ চলছে।
