নির্বাচন কমিশন (ইসি) সূত্র জানা যায়, এরইমধ্যে নবনির্বাচিতদের নাম-ঠিকানাসহ ফলাফল গেজেট আকারে প্রকাশের প্রস্তুতি চলছে । প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ শেষে কমিশনের অনুমোদনের জন্য চলতি সপ্তাহেই তা পাঠানো হতে পারে। আর শপথ অনুষ্ঠানের বিষয়টি তদারকি করবে স্থানীয় সরকার বিভাগ।
এর আগে গেল শনিবার (১ ফেব্রুয়ারি) ঢাকা উত্তর সিটি কর্পোরেশনে নৌকা মার্কায় ৪ লাখ ৪৭ হাজার ২১১ ভোট পেয়ে মেয়র পদে নির্বাচিত হন আতিকুল ইসলাম। তার নিকটতম প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বী ধানের শীষের প্রার্থী তাবিথ আউয়াল পান ২ লাখ ৬৪ হাজার ১৬১ ভোট।
অন্যদিকে দক্ষিণ সিটি করপোরেশনে আওয়ামী লীগের নৌকা প্রতীক নিয়ে ৪ লাখ ২৪ হাজার ৫৯৫ ভোট পেয়ে বিজয়ী হন শেখ ফজলে নূর তাপস। তার প্রধান প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বী বিএনপির প্রার্থী ইশরাক হোসেন পান ২ লাখ ৩৬ হাজার ৫১২ ভোট।
উত্তর সিটিতে আতিকুল আইনি বাধ্যবাধকতার কারণে মেয়র পদ ছেড়ে নির্বাচনে অংশ নিয়ে বিজয়ী হন । অপরদিকে দক্ষিণ সিটিতে মেয়রের দায়িত্বে থাকা সাঈদ খোকন এই নির্বাচনে অংশ না নেয়ায় তিনি এখন স্বপদে বহাল আছেন।
২০১৫ সালের ২৮ এপ্রিল উত্তর সিটিতে ভোট হওয়ার পর প্রথম সভা হয় ১৪ মে। সেই হিসাবে ২০২০ সালের ১৩ মে পর্যন্ত আর্গের নির্বাচিতরা স্বপদে বহাল থাকবেন। উত্তরে গেলবার মেয়র নির্বাচিত হয়েছিলেন আনিসুল হক। ২০১৭ সালের ৩০ নভেম্বর ৬৫ বছর বয়সে মারা যান তিনি। তার মৃত্যুতে অনুষ্ঠিত উপনির্বাচনে নির্বাচিত হয়ে উত্তরের মেয়র হিসেবে ৯ মাস দায়িত্ব পালন করেন আতিকুল।
