এই সমস্ত মানুষের পাশে দাঁড়ালেন চট্টগ্রাম মহানগর আওয়ামী লীগের সিনিয়র যুগ্ম-সাধারণ সম্পাদক ও চট্টগ্রাম সিটি কর্পোরেশন নির্বাচনে আওয়ামী লীগ মনোনীত মেয়র প্রার্থী বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা আলহাজ্ব এম. রেজাউল করিম চৌধুরী । মধ্যরাতে চট্টগ্রাম শহরের বিভিন্ন স্থানে ঘুরে ঘুরে ফুটপাতের অসহায় অবস্থায় থাকা মানুষের হাতে রান্নাকরা সেহেরীর খাবার তুলে দেন তিনি।
এ সময় তিনি বলেন, মানবতার কল্যাণে কাজ করার শিক্ষা দিয়েছেন মহানবী হযরত মোহাম্মদ (সাঃ)। তিনি আল্লাহর প্রেরিত রাসূল হিসেবে ইসলাম ধর্ম প্রচারের পাশাপাশি অভুক্ত, নিপীড়িত, অসহায় মানুষের মুক্তির জন্য নিজেকে আত্মনিয়োগ করেছিলেন। তার মানবিক শিক্ষাকে ধারণ করে মানবকল্যানে সকলকে এগিয়ে আসা দরকার। পবিত্র রমজান মাস রহমতের মাস। এই মাসে একজন রোজাদারকে যেনো সেহেরী না করে অভুক্ত অবস্থায় রোজা রাখতে না হয়, সেজন্য আমি নিজে মধ্যরাতে নগরীর বিভিন্ন জায়গায় ঘুরে ঘুরে অসহায় মানুষদেরকে রান্না করা সেহেরীর খাবার পৌঁছে দিচ্ছি।
