তিনি বৃহস্পতিবার সকালে সেতু ভবনে সেতু মন্ত্রণালয়ের অধীনে নির্মাণাধীন বিভিন্ন প্রকল্পের কাজের অগ্রগতি পর্যালোচনা বিষয়ে সেতু সচিব মো. বেলায়েত হোসেনের সঙ্গে মতবিনিময়কালে একথা বলেন।
ওবায়দুল কাদের তার সরকারি বাসভবন থেকে ভিডিও কনফারেন্সের মাধ্যমে মতবিনিময় সভায় যুক্ত হন।
‘জনস্বার্থ সরকারের লক্ষ্য নয়’- বিএনপি মহাসচিবের এমন অভিযোগ প্রসঙ্গে ওবায়দুল কাদের বলেন, আওয়ামী লীগ প্রতিষ্ঠালগ্ন থেকে জনগনের স্বার্থকে সর্বোচ্চ অগ্রাধিকার দিয়ে আসছে বলেই মানুষের আস্থার সংগঠনে পরিণত হয়েছে।
তিনি বলেন, আওয়ামী লীগ এদেশের সবচেয়ে প্রাচীন এবং বৃহত্তর রাজনৈতিক দল, মাটি ও মানুষের দল হিসেবে সংগঠনটি জনমানুষের হৃদয়ের গভীরে অবস্থান করছে।
আওয়ামী লীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক বলেন, বিএনপিই জনস্বার্থ সুরক্ষায় অবিশ্বস্ত, বিপরীতে আওয়ামী লীগ জনআস্থার প্রতীক।
প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার কাছে দেশ ও জনগণের স্বার্থ সবার আগে জানিয়ে ওবায়দুল কাদের বলেন, যারা দেশ বিকিয়ে দিয়ে, স্বাধীনতার চেতনাকে ভুলন্ঠিত করে এবং হত্যা ও সন্ত্রাস নির্ভর রাজনীতি করে তাদের মুখে গণতন্ত্রের দাবি শোভা পায় না।
তিনি বলেন, বিএনপি নেত্রীর ক্যারিশমা দেশকে দুর্নীতিতে পরপর ৫ বার বিশ্ব চ্যাম্পিয়ন করেছিল,তার ক্যারিশমায় একুশ আগস্ট ঘটিয়ে জজ মিয়া নাটক তৈরি করেছিল।
সেতুমন্ত্রী বলেন, খালেদা জিয়া ক্ষমতায় থাকাকালে ভারত সফরে গিয়ে গঙ্গার পানি চুক্তির কথা ভুলে গিয়েছিলেন। বিপরীতে শেখ হাসিনা দেশের স্বার্থকে প্রাধান্য দিয়ে সীমান্ত সমস্যা, ছিটমহল বিনিময়, সমুদ্র বিজয় করেছেন।
ওবায়দুল কাদের বলেন, বিএনপি ক্ষমতায় থাকাকলে দেশবিরোধী বিদেশি শক্তিরই প্রভাব ছিল।
