নিজস্ব প্রতিবেদক : পাখির কলরবে মুখরিত এখন অক্সিজেন নামে খ্যাত রাজশাহী মহানগর।রাজশাহী মেডিকেল কলেজ ও হাসপাতাল এখন পাখিদের জন্য অভায়াশ্রম। যেদিকে চোখ যায় শুধু পাখি আর পাখি। বিভিন্ন পাখির শব্দে মনে হয় গহীন অরণ্যের কোনো পাখিরাজ্যে পরিনত হয়েছে। মাথার ওপর উড়ে যাচ্ছে হাজার হাজার বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির শামুক খোল, পানকৌড়ি ও নিশি বক। আবার কেউবা তৈরি করচ্ছে বাসা ও আবার কেউবা গাছের ডালে বসে করছে নানান ভঙ্গিতে নানান ধরনের শব্দ।
পরিবেশ সংশ্লিষ্টরা জানান, প্রায় একযুগ ধরে এই এলাকায় পাখিরা প্রজনন করে আসছিল। কয়েকবছর আগে কারা প্রাচীর ও আবাসন নির্মাণের জন্য বহু গাছ কেটে ফেলে কর্তৃপক্ষ। এ কারনে পাখির সংখ্যা অনেক । প্রতিবেশী দেশ থেকেও গরমকালে প্রজনন মৌসুমে এখানে পাখিরা আসে। এবছর করোনাভাইরাসের কারণে শহরে কোলাহল কমে যাওয়ায় পাখির আগমন বেড়েছে বলেও জানান অনেকে।
রাজশাহীর পরিবেশ আন্দোলন ঐক্য পরিষদের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা উপদেষ্টা ডা. মাহফুজুর রহমান রাজ বলেন, রাজশাহী মেডিকেল কলেজ ক্যাম্পাস, মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতাল, কেন্দ্রীয় কারাগার, রাজশাহী টেকনিক্যাল ট্রেনিং সেন্টার ও রাজশাহী ইনস্টিটিউট অব নিউক্লিয়ার মেডিসিন অ্যান্ড অ্যাপ্লাইড সায়েন্সেস এলাকায় এমন কোনো গাছ নেই যেখানে পাখিরা বাসা বাঁধেনি। এমনকি রাস্তার ডিভাইডারের ছোটো ছোটো গাছগুলোতেও বাসা বেঁধেছে হাজারো শামুক খোল পাখি। কিন্তু তিন বছর আগে কারা প্রাচীরসহ আবাসন নির্মাণের জন্য ছোটো-বড়ো প্রায় ৬০০ গাছ কেটে ফেলে কর্তৃপক্ষ। এই কারণে এ বছর পাখিরা কারাগারের আশপাশের এলাকায় ছড়িয়ে গেছে। পাখি রাজশাহী মেডিকেল কলেজ ও হাসপাতাল এলাকায় ছোটো-বড়ো গাছে আশ্রয় নিয়েছে। গত তিন বছর ধরেই রাজশাহী মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতাল এলাকায় পাখিরা প্রজনন করছে।
পাখি বিশেষজ্ঞ ও রাজশাহী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রাণিবিদ্যা বিভাগের অধ্যাপক আমিনুজ্জামান মো. সালেহ্ রেজা বলেন, এখন এসব পাখির প্রজননের সময়। তাই তারা দলবন্ধভাবে এসব এলাকায় বাসা তৈরি করছে। মূলত করোনাভাইরাসে কারণে কয়েকমাস শহরে কোলাহল কম ছিল। এই কারণে পাখিরা শহরের ভিতর ছড়িয়ে ছিটিয়ে গেছে।
রাজশাহী মেডিকেল কলেজের অধ্যক্ষ মো. নওশাদ আলী বলেন, মেডিকেল কলেজ ও হাসপাতাল ক্যাম্পাসে আগে থেকেই পাখি আসত। তবে এবার বেশি এসেছে। এখনও পাখি শিকার বা তারা যেন কোনোভাবে বিরক্ত না হয় সে বিষয়টি লক্ষ্য রাখা হয়েছে। এ বিষয়ে স্থানীয় প্রশাসনকে অবহিত করা হয়েছে।
