সাধারণত বছরের জুলাই মাসে দশম শ্রেণির শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রাক-নির্বাচনী আর অক্টোবরে নির্বাচনী পরীক্ষা নেয়া হয়। আর দ্বাদশ শ্রেণির শিক্ষার্থীদের প্রাক-নির্বাচনী বা অর্ধবার্ষিক পরীক্ষা জুলাই-আগস্টে এবং ডিসেম্বরে নির্বাচনী পরীক্ষা হয়। এরপর নভেম্বরে এসএসসি পরীক্ষার্থীদের ফরম পূরণ এবং ডিসেম্বর-জানুয়ারি মাসে এইচএসসি পরীক্ষার্থীদের ফরম পূরণ করা হয়। ইতোমধ্যে এসএসসি ও এইচএসসি পরীক্ষার্থীদের প্রাক-নির্বাচনী পরীক্ষা বাতিল হয়ে গেছে। আগামী বছরের এইচএসসি পরীক্ষার্থীদের একাদশ শ্রেণির বার্ষিক পরীক্ষাও হয়নি। একাদশ শ্রেণিতে কলেজ পর্যায়ে নেয়া বিভিন্ন ক্লাস টেস্ট আর অর্ধবার্ষিক পরীক্ষার ফলের ওপর ভিত্তি করে এসব শিক্ষার্থীকে ‘অটো পাস’ দেয়া হয়েছে।
শিক্ষা বিশেষজ্ঞরা বলছেন, এসএসসি প্রোগ্রাম দুই বছরের জন্য হলেও ২৫ মাস পর পরীক্ষা নেয়া হয়। যদিও বাস্তবে এসব শিক্ষার্থী দুই বছরে ১৭-১৮ মাস পাঠদান পেয়ে থাকে। অন্যদিকে এইচএসসি দুই বছরের প্রোগ্রাম হলেও বাস্তবে পাঠদান হয়ে থাকে ১৬ মাসের মতো। সেই হিসাবে এখন পর্যন্ত সবচেয়ে বেশি ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে আগামী বছরের এইচএসসি পরীক্ষার্থীরা। এমন পরিস্থিতিতে অভিভাবকরা ইতোমধ্যে দাবি তুলেছেন, শিক্ষার্থীদের ঠিকমতো লেখাপড়া করিয়ে এই দুটি পরীক্ষা নেয়া প্রয়োজন। নইলে শিক্ষার্থীর লেখাপড়া বা দক্ষতা অর্জনে ঘাটতি থাকবে। পাশাপাশি জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যায়ে উচ্চশিক্ষায় গিয়ে প্রতিযোগিতায় পিছিয়ে পড়তে পারে।

ঢাকা শিক্ষা বোর্ডের সচিব অধ্যাপক তপন কুমার সরকার যুগান্তরকে বলেন, যৌক্তিক কারণেই এসএসসি ও এইচএসসির সিলেবাস-শিক্ষাক্রম কমানোর সুযোগ নেই। সে ক্ষেত্রে গোটা পাঠ্যবই শেষ করেই পরীক্ষা নেয়া হবে। সিলেবাস শেষ করতে কতদিন লাগবে সেটা এখনই বলা যাচ্ছে না, যেহেতু কবে নাগাদ শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান খুলে দেয়া যাবে- তা অনিশ্চিত। হয়তো পরীক্ষা পেছানোর প্রয়োজন হতে পারে। তবে শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান খুলে দেয়ার পর শিক্ষার্থীদের অধ্যয়ন এবং বাকি অংশ মূল্যায়ন শেষে এ ব্যাপারে সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়া হবে।
এবারের এইচএসসি : সূত্র জানিয়েছে, স্বাস্থ্যবিধি মেনে এই পরীক্ষা গ্রহণে ইতোমধ্যে অভিভাবকদের পক্ষ থেকে শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ে আবেদন করা হয়েছে। রাজধানীর ইন্দিরা রোডের নজরুল ইসলাম নামে এক অভিভাবক ৮ সেপ্টেম্বর এ ব্যাপারে ৬ দফা প্রস্তাব সংবলিত স্মারকলিপিও দেন। তাতে ৫০ করে ১০০ নম্বরে বাংলা দুই পত্র এবং একইভাবে ইংরেজি দুই পত্র পরীক্ষা নেয়ার কথা বলা হয়। এছাড়া বিজ্ঞানের বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে তত্ত্বীয় ৭৫ নম্বরের পরীক্ষা নিয়ে ব্যবহারিকের ২৫ নম্বর এমনি দেয়ার প্রস্তাব দেয়া হয়। আইসিটি বিষয়ের পরীক্ষা বাতিল; বিজ্ঞান, বিজনেস স্টাডিজ ও মানবিক বিষয়ে একটি করে বিষয়ের পরীক্ষা নিয়ে বাকিগুলো ঐচ্ছিক ঘোষণার প্রস্তাবও দেয়া হয়েছে।
