এসময় বাগেরহাট সদর উপজেলা পরিষদ চেয়ারম্যান সরদার নাসির উদ্দিন, নির্বাহী ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট কামরুল হাসান, মোহাম্মাদ শাহজাহান, রাহাত উজ্জামান, শিক্ষার্থীদের মা শাহিদা বেগম, কাউন্সিলর মোল্লা নাসির উদ্দিনসহ আরও অনেকে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
বাগেরহাট সদর উপজেলা পরিষদ চেয়ারম্যান সরদার নাসির উদ্দিন মেধাবী ওই দুই শিক্ষার্থীকে দু’টি মোবাইল ফোন উপহার দেন।
নাসির উদ্দিন বাংলানিউজকে বলেন, বাগেরহাটে এমন দু’জন মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থী রয়েছে বিষয়টি জানতে পেরে সবাই তাদের বাড়িতে যাই। বাগেরহাট-২ (সদর ও কচুয়া) আসনের সংসদ সদস্য শেখ সারহান নাসের তন্ময়কে বিষয়টি জানিয়েছি। মেধাবী ওই মেয়েরা যাতে নির্বিঘ্নে তাদের পড়াশোনা চালিয়ে যেতে পারেন সে ব্যবস্থা করতে বলেছেন তিনি। আমরা সবসময় মেধাবীদের পাশে থাকবো।
এছাড়া বাগেরহাট পৌরসভার মেয়র খান হাবিবুর রহমানও এ দুই শিক্ষার্থীকে পড়াশোনার জন্য ৫০ হাজার টাকা দেওয়া কথা বলেছেন বলে সংশ্লিষ্ট সূত্রে জানা গেছে।
