পুঠিয়া (রাজশাহী) উপজেলা প্রতিনিধিঃ পুঠিয়ার বানেশ্বর হাটে বিক্রি হচ্ছে নিষিদ্ধ কারেন্ট জাল। প্রশাসনের নাকের ডগায় এক শ্রেণীর অসাধু ব্যবসায়ীরা নিষিদ্ধ কারেন্ট জালের জমজমার ব্যবসা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছে। ফলে এ এলাকা থেকে দেশীয় প্রজাতির ছোট বড় মাছ প্রায় বিলুপ্তির পথে। কারেন্ট জালে সব ধরনের মাছ বেশী ধরা পড়ায় এলাকার মৎস্য শিকারীরা এ জাল ক্রয় করছে। এ জাল দিয়ে জেলেরা বিভিন্ন নদী ও খাল-বিলে দেশি প্রজাতির ডিমওয়ালা ও পোনা মাছ নিধন করছে। বর্ষার শুরু থেকে এ জাল দিয়ে মাছ ধরা শুরু করে তারা। এমনিতেই নানা কারণে আমাদের দেশীয় প্রজাতির বহু মাছ প্রায় বিলুপ্তির পথে। আর কারেন্ট জাল দিয়ে এভাবে মাছ ধরা অব্যাহত থাকলে আমাদের দেশীয় প্রাজাতির মাছ যে অচিরেই বিলুপ্ত হবে তাতে কোন সন্দেহ নাই। ২০০২ সালে সংশোধিত মৎস্য সংরক্ষণ আইনে কারেন্ট জাল উৎপাদন, পরিবহন, বাজারজাতকরণ, সংরক্ষণ ও ব্যবহার সম্পূর্ণ নিষিদ্ধ করা হয়। এ আইনটি মানছে না এক শ্রেণীর অসাধু ব্যবসায়ীরা। উপজেলার বানেশ্বর, ঝলমলিয়া, মোল্লাপাড়াসহ বেশ কয়েকটি হাটে এ কারেন্ট জাল বিক্রি হচ্ছে। প্রশাসনের নজরদারী অভাবে এ কারেন্ট জাল বিক্রি হচ্ছে বলে এলকাবাসীর অভিযোগ। এবিষয়ে পুঠিয়া উপজেলা সিনিয়র মৎস্য কর্মকর্তা ওমর আলী বলেন, আমাদের নিয়মিত অভিযান চলছে। আজকেও আমরা বানেশ্বর হাট থেকে প্রায় ৫ হাজার টাকার কারেন্ট জাল আটক করে ধ্বংস করেছি। এ বিষয়ে আমাদের অভিযান অব্যহত থাকবেল তিনি জানান।
